SINGLE SEX SCHOOLS

Today I want to argue single sex schools as a very controversial topic. Single-sex education can be defined as teaching girls or boys in seperate classrooms or schools.This approach in education is an old tradition but now it is gaining a new momentum because there is an increase in the number of single sex schools and that  is because single sex schools are more advantageous than coed one. Of course it is more advantageous as single-sex schools educate children better because it allows children to concentrate on academics. There is less distraction there so students can easily focus on their comfortable, self-confident. They express their ideas freely. They show more participation in lessons. 
Firstly, single-sex schools are more beneficial and  it provides more success as there is not too much distraction there. Especially the students in elementary schools can be easily affected by the other gender. They pay more attention to the handsome or beautiful friends than lessons. Because of that, their grades may fall and they become unsuccessful but in a single-sex environment focusing on lessons are easier.The students educated in single-sex schools are more focused and more successful. Futhermore, as there is less distraction in these schools, students  stay out of trouble more often.  For example, the elementary or secondary school students generally boys fight with another boy over the girls they love. Both they and the ones they fight with are hurt and they do not concentrate on their works, lesson. 

Secondly, students are more free in single sex schools. They feel comfortable while explaining their ideas. Particularly female students express themselves more easily among friends of the same sex. When these students do not try to impress the opposite sex, they are more willing to express their opinions in the school during classroom discussions, group projects and so on and this also helps them to be successful in school. Futhermore, single-sex classes allow the students to gain more self-confidence and help them overcome their insecurities. Students being self-confident, representing themselves easily become more enterprising in their future lives.Girls were more likely to take risks even if they resulted in mistakes because they were supported by their classmates and free from the embarrassment caused by the presence of boys. The single-sex environment made the girls feel empowered and smart in their lives.

Some people argue that single-sex schools are disadvantageous because they think these students will take place in a society consisting of both males and females in the future and single-sex schools do not reflect the real life. Yet, students will learn how to behave towards the opposite sex when they grow up. Now the important issue for them is success in lessons because when they go somewhere in the future, firstly they will be asked their education level, academic achievements. They will impress others in this way. Moreover, socialization is of course important for a child but in the environment where there are both girls and boys, the children is impressed by the other gender. That is why in fact socialization is a major distraction and naturally so that there is no social distraction, there is no socialization there,either. 

All in all, single-sex schools are more advantageous to be educated well and to be free.It is strongly advised to be chosen by the ones thinking this type of school is good for them, appropriate for  their learning abilities or personalities. I think it is better in this way.
